What each step actually means

R
Recognise — Awareness

Check in before the day gets you. Rate your energy. Name where you actually are — not where you were yesterday, not where you think you should be. Right now. You can't navigate from a false starting point.

E
Establish — Focus

The 80/20 question — which 20% of actions will create 80% of today's results? Not the full list. Not everything screaming for your attention. The one thing that actually moves you forward. One question. One answer. That's the work.

S
Strategically Define — Response

This is where E+R=O lives. You know your state. You know your priority. Now you choose how you show up — deliberately, not reactively. Something happened. How you respond to it is on you. This step makes that choice before you've even opened your inbox.

E + R = O
E
Execute — Action

Max 3 tasks. 5 habit trackers. Deliberately tight. Not because you don't have more to do — you do — but because constraint creates momentum. A list of 20 things isn't a plan. It's anxiety on paper. Three things, done properly. That's a productive day.

T
Transform — Reflection

Close the loop. One honest adjustment at the end of each day. Not judgment. Not a debrief on everything you didn't do. Just — what changes tomorrow? That's where transformation actually happens. Small. Consistent. Compounded over 90 days.

Questions about the framework

What is the RESET framework?

A five-step daily structure built into every page of the Reset Journal — Recognise, Establish, Strategically Define, Execute, Transform. Grounded in E+R=O: Event plus Response equals Outcome.

What does E+R=O mean?

Event plus Response equals Outcome. You can't always control what happens. You can always control how you respond. The RESET framework makes that response intentional — every day, not just when you feel like it.

How does the framework work day to day?

Morning: work through R, E, and S — recognise your state, establish your priority, define your response. During the day: execute max 3 tasks, track 5 habits. Evening: close the loop with one honest adjustment. Repeat for 90 days.

Why only 3 tasks per day?

Constraint creates momentum. A list of 20 things isn't a plan — it's anxiety on paper. Three tasks done properly is a productive day. The Execute step forces you to prioritise, not just collect tasks.

How long does the Reset Journal last?

90 days — long enough for the framework to move from a process you follow consciously to a pattern you live automatically. By day 90, the five steps are instinctive.
